Be careful when in Hawaiian waters!

Hawaii is a deceptively dangerous place and whenever you’re in the water you have to exercise extreme caution. In this case a 56-year-old snorkeler was found unconscious in the water off Makaha Beach Park just after 9 a.m.  They don’t know how he got into trouble and he’s in the hospital. We wish him well of course.

My recommendation is if you’re going into the water in a given place for the first time, take a good 15-20 minutes and just watch what happens. Many times people just run into extremely dangerous waters in between large “sets” of waves. It looks calm until a set of waves come and then you realize you’re in a life-threatening situation.
