Many of you have asked for a scenic drive – so let’s try it out! This is one of my favorite drives on Oahu and goes from Nuuanu to Kailua, then to Waimanalo, Makapuu and ends right before Sandy Beach. Let me know what you think! Should I do more of these? Is the music OK? Should I narrate? Keep quiet? All comments welcome!
Hey Peter:
Thanks for the ride!
I’m still working my way through it, so that brings me to my first comment: How about shorter segments (five to 15 minutes)?
I loved your shorter bits when showing us the scenery and also narrating your topic of the week.
Which brings me to my second comment: LOVE your narratives and ruminations!
In addition to any comments regarding the scenery and sights, throw us out some random thoughts. Always interesting!
How about some “back-roads” travels.
Get us off the highways and into neighborhoods and secondary roads. Love the road less traveled with a slower pace.
Video challenge. I get what you’re trying to do by swiveling the camera 360-degrees – give us a more panoramic scene. But for me, I get a little dizzy from the effect. (I also get carsick though, so maybe that makes the ride more real?!)
Not sure how to capture the whole scene and straight ahead at the same time.
Now, PLEASE don’t take these comments as a negative assessment. As a nine year Makaha Valley resident, I love to get out and about other parts of island with you, especially when you’re paying for the gas!!!

Mahalo Mark! Really appreciate your comments. Love them, actually!
Hi Peter,, Thanks for doing the favorite drives. I think if you were to narrate a little as you went, maybe describe the sights, or the section of road, (when it is winding or curved) , or the towns as you pass through them, When a particularly nice view, do a stop or a panoramic so we can see it – good time for a quick narration. Maybe if there is a lookout, you could pull over there and discuss/show view.
The narrating (no music) mixed in with music (while not narrating Hawaiian would be great) I would think in a 30 minute drive video maybe 10 minutes or less of narration would be all that is needed.
I have only lived here for a couple of years and I have not been on such a cool looking drive. I am only familiar with the big roads. Some of those back roads with no lights and the nice winding curves look like fun.
Thanks Again
Big Mike, Oahu
Thanks Big Mike! Really appreciate the feedback!
Love the videos! Maybe some Hawaiian music sometimes? And also some.commentary to guide us along the ride.Thank you!!
Great suggestion! I would love to have Hawaiian music. it’s going to be challenging to get the rights to use it, but I do agree it would be much better
