The Once in a Lifetime Shot
Unless you work on a whale watching boat, this is the kind of shot you see once in a lifetime, much less to capture it with your camera! Taken in Maui, the unspoiled mountains in the background and contrasting ocean foreground really brings your focus to this incredible animal that very few of us have ever witnessed.
Big Mahalo to Paul Siddoway!
Photos from our subscribers, especially amateur ones, are my favorites because they illustrate how incredibly beautiful Hawaii is and anyone with a phone can take stunning shots. Mahala Paul for sharing!

“sight” is the correct word and I’m not going to stick with what I know is wrong
Hi Peter: Your website and all the information you provide is impressive. I’m a fan. Small suggestion: use the wording “sight unseen” instead of “site-unseen.” You probably mean you came to Hawaii and started over there without ever having seen or been to Hawaii previously. Sight unseen. In some cases, “site-unseen” might refer to not ever having seen a website before, or viewed a site: physical property, but generally, saying “sight unseen” is what’s used in describing having never seen the place before, with one’s own eyes. Just a former book editor and newspaper editor (and copy editor) sounding off. Best wishes.
Mahalo David! You were too kind in your words and you’re absolutely right. I really really appreciate you taking the time to correct that! Fixed.
