Got Banana Trees In Your Neighborhood?
This is one of those “What we see every day in Hawaii” photos – it’s nothing special – just a banana tree. But how many banana trees do you have in your neighborhood? Hawaii islanders really value having fruit trees in their yards, so walking around in any given neighborhood you’ll find not just bananas, but papayas, mango, lemon, lime, guava, avocado, and more.
Big Mahalo to Cynthia Sherstad!
Photos from our subscribers, especially amateur ones, are my favorites because they illustrate how incredibly beautiful Hawaii is and anyone with a phone can take stunning shots. Mahala Cynthia for sharing!

Just lovely! And I never feel that it’s “just a banana tree.” The bananas and banana blossom hanging from the end makes for a beautiful photo and a reminder of the beauty of our islands. So thankful for all the different tropical fruits we have available to us. We are blessed with apple bananas, mangos and coconuts that our friends share with us. We love shopping for papayas and guava at the Farner’s Markets here. Such an abundance of fresh fruits and veggies and perfect weather. Talk about island blessings!
What a great comment! mahalo!
