I’ve lived Hawaii since the mid ‘80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived site-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about $5k in savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early ‘90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.
Vern,
I read your entire books this morning as I am considering moving to Oahu or Big Island. Great read and lots of useful information, thanks!
I am getting ready to start grad school and plan to graduate in August of 2015. So, I am considering moving in two years which will give me plenty of time to research most of what is needed to move. I hope! I have visited Hawaii a few times, but it has been about 15 years since I have been back.
I work as a Project Manager in the construction field. What Island would you suggest moving to for working in the related field? I have been cruising the job boards and have found some very decent paying jobs in construction Project Management. I am just curious as to what you believe may be a better location for my field.
Thanks!
I tell most people this, and your situation seems to fit as well. Just go to Oahu first. Easier to find a job there. Easier to figure out which of the other islands you might like best. Easier to find a job on one of the other islands when you are already ‘on-island.’ Best of luck! Aloha, Vern
