I’ve lived Hawaii since the mid ‘80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived site-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about $5k in savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early ‘90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.
I live in Kaneohe/Kahalu’u in a Bay Front Hawaiian Victorian (looks like a riverboat from the water) with amazing views of Kaneohe Bay and the Ko’olau’s. It’s quiet, on a cul de sac on a peninsula with water on 3 sides, Living room view is Ali’i Ponds with the Ko’olaus as a back drop, kitchen window has a view of Chinamans hat and the front bedroom window view is the Sandbar and Kaneohe Marine Base on the other side of Kaneohe Bay; it is beyond beautiful and living here for the last 9 years has been a dream come true.
Every Friday night there are fire dancers, and traditional Hawaiian music at the Resort next door, so when i hear the drums I go out to the lanai and enjoy the show.
We’re 45 minutes from Waikiki with it’s endless noise, crowds and traffic.
There are so many reasons to come check out the ‘other’ side of the Island. Windward has it all and is worth the time it takes to come explore the many wonderful beaches, experiences, and Ohana of our area.
My slice of the Hawaiian Dream is rich beyond measure if measured in pleasure.
Aloha
Agreed! The Windward side is so beautiful!
I love the North Shore community.
Me too! Back in my 20s I used to go there every weekend. Had a good friend with a beachfront house in Haleiwa. Some of the best times of my life.
