An amazing spectacle of power

I vividly remember seeing a lava flow for the first time.  I was staying with some friends on the Big Island and we drove to a spot in the middle of the night. I looked out and saw a long finger of the most captivating deep-orange red color I’ve ever seen.  Native Hawaiians hold a deep spiritual reverence for the goddess Pele who lives in the HalemaÊ»umaÊ»u pit crater.
