Hawaii has so much to offer. The natural diversity is really incredible. There truly is something here for everyone except an arctic climate! So if I wanted to take a “staycation”, where would I go? Our local girl Aina did a great job in writing up these places. One of them is so special to me personally that it was one of the reasons why I move to Hawaii back in the 80s. Guess which one!

Here's a view of Makena "Big Beach" from a small outcropping. This was the first beach I ever experienced in Hawaii and such it's like my "first love" in terms of beaches.

About the Author: Peter Kay
I've lived Hawaii since the mid '80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived sight-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about 6 months worth of savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early '90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.
