How to Not Get Bored in Hawaii Tip #1: Try Different Water Sports
I always encourage people to try different water sports and activities at the beach rather than just sitting at the beach. That can get boring and redundant. This is why I encourage people to try surfing, body surfing, kayaking, stand up paddling, etc. To avoid getting bored of the beach, try different things at the beach. Although laying out in the sun seems nice and relaxing, it can get boring if you’re at the same beach every weekend. So, I suggest getting a kayak rental or getting your own water toys to have fun in the ocean. Although these are not necessary, they could be a potential cure to boredom.
How to Not Get Bored in Hawaii Tip #2: Get with an Active Crowd
Make friends with people who like to explore different places and try different things. This is a rule of thumb to follow no matter where you are in the world, because the people you hang around with influence your daily lifestyle and who you are. The things you experience are more fun with friends, so make friends with people who are active. Make friends with locals who know the area and know different things to do – and are also willing to try new things. Also, make friends with people who are not afraid to try new things and venture out from their comfort circle. If your friends are nervous about trying a kayaking route, you’ll be nervous too. Make friends with smart, fearless and active people. They will help cure potential boredom.
How to Not Get Bored in Hawaii Tip #3: Try Different Food
It can be tempting to eat at the same fast food place all the time. I do the same with Chipotle on the mainland, and then I got tired of it and it was boring. I encourage people to try different places and different food. Avoid going to the same restaurant on the weekends and avoid fast food on a recurring basis. It’s always fun to try and make your local favorites like Spam Musubis and Chicken Katsu Curry, at home, instead of getting it at a restaurant. You’ll also save money and cut your spending, but that’s besides the point. The point is to mix up your food intake with variety. This can keep you from getting board of the local island cuisine.
How to Not Get Bored in Hawaii Tip #4: Take on Different Hobbies that do not Involve the Beach
Although this may be difficult to hear if you have moved to Hawaii for the sole purpose of stretching out on the beach every single day, you may get bored of this every weekend. I know some people from the mainland who genuinely don’t enjoy the beach, even on vacation. Now given that this crowd of people will not be looking into moving to the island – this idea is still something to consider. What if moved to Hawaii and then got tired of the beach? Make sure to take up hobbies that don’t involve the beach every once in a while.
