I’ve gotten more than a few emails from people asking if they should come out to Hawaii during this COVID-19 outbreak. As luck would have it, local resident Patricia Ravarra volunteered to share her opinion on this topic and she was kind enough to write an opinion piece about it. I think Pat has done a good job of combining both factual elements (like the current quarantine in place) as well as a cultural/historical element you probably have never heard of. When people ask me about whether they should come out or not, I send them to this link and I think it’s a good read if you’re contemplating a visit.
About the Author: Peter Kay
I’ve lived Hawaii since the mid ‘80s when I moved here at the age of 21. I arrived site-unseen in Honolulu with zero contacts and about $5k in savings. I worked from nearly zero and today Hawaii has given me the greatest gifts in the world in all aspects: spiritually, financially, romantically (married since early ‘90s w/ 2 children), and most important, peace. My goal with this site is to share the magic of this Land of Aloha and help others who are on a similar quest.
