Yes, we started the poke (“po-kay”) craze on the mainland

Poke bowls are similar to plate lunches in that the whole meal is encompassed in one plate. Ahi tuna Poke by Openmalware.exe is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Image may have been resized or cropped from original.

If you haven’t gone for a “Poke Bowl” you don’t know what you’re missing and I highly recommend that (right after you read this) you drop what your’re doing and head for the nearest poke bowl shop and start eating!  Poke is the Hawaiian term for marinated raw fish (typically but not necessarily Ahi tuna) served on a bed of rice and poke bowl shops are springing up all across the mainland.  If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, this would be it.  Our local girl Aina takes you through a little tour of poke and fish choices in Hawaii.  Of course when you get here, make a beeline for any of the local poke sources (any supermarket will do!) and enjoy.
