Dylan has it exactly right. Legal vacation rentals will probably thrive, once they get past this COVID19 dearth of visitors.
By the way, Maui is now allowing vacation rentals to be open to visitors not subject to quarantine. Also, inter-island travelers are no longer subject to quarantine. So, health workers exempt from quarantine, visitors that have already gone through their 14-day quarantine, and inter-island travelers can all stay at legal vacation rentals. Isn’t this also true on Oahu? I believe it was a proclamation from Governor Ige, issued last week.
Yes, and I mentioned this in the Covid update video yesterday: as of 6/16 there no longer an inter-island quarantine.
