Do you need a car in Hawaii?

I’ve never lived in Hawaii without car, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go on without one. If you’re planning on visiting Hawaii, I would rent a car on a day-to-day on an as-needed basis.  If you’re planning on living here, you could get by with a moped but I assure you that won’t last long once you bike through a few rains especially since we get light rains (aka “Mauka Showers”) here in the morning nearly all the time.

The good news is that you can get around without a car.  Our local girl Aina shares her stories on how she fared getting around Hawaii without a car.
